What inspired the Shirt
The Quote: “They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety”.
The aim of this shirt is not the promotion of war with our country. Thanks to those men who fought the revolutionary war, we are free to govern ourselves within a "government of the people". The intent is merely to express the price paid for freedom and the great lengths which were taken to preserve it. Our freedom was handed down to us, but, as Americans who enjoy it, we also have a price to pay. Thomas Jefferson said, “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance”. Our payment for freedom is eternal vigilance. We are to keep watch and be sure that legislation voted into law does not place a higher value on security vs. freedom. It is our duty to ensure that the preservation of our freedom remains the most important factor when considering new legislation.
